Man charged with drugs offences after proactive vehicle stop in South Ribble

A man has been charged with drug-related offenses following a vehicle stop by the Leyland Neighbourhood Policing team in South Ribble. The incident occurred around 3 PM on August 10, 2026, when officers stopped a car behaving suspiciously on Lindle.

We have charged a man with drugs offences after a proactive vehicle stop in South Ribble.

At around 3pm on Monday (10th August 2026), officers from the Leyland Neighbourhood Policing team stopped a car that was seen to be acting suspiciously on Lindle Lane.

Following a search, 50 packets of cocaine and around £1300 in cash was discovered inside the car and the driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

During a search of a nearby property, officers also found over £105,000 in cash.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, we can now tell you that Sam Haworth, 39, of Martinfield Road, Penwortham, is charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear before Preston Magistrates Court today.
